«تعالوا بايعوني على أن لا تشركوا بالله شيئا ولا تسرقوا ولا تزنوا ولا تقتلوا أولادكم ولا تأتوا ببهتان تفترونه بين أيديكم وأرجلكم ولا تعصوني في معروف فمن وفى منكم فأجره على الله ومن أصاب من ذلك شيئا فعوقب به في الدنيا فهو له كفارة ومن أصاب من ذلك شيئا فستره الله فأمره إلى الله إن شاء عاقبه وأن شاء عفا عنه»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Come, pledge allegiance to me on the condition that you will not associate anything with Allah, you will not steal, you will not commit adultery, you will not kill your children, you will not bring forth a slander that you have fabricated between your hands and your feet, and you will not disobey me in anything good. Whoever among you fulfils this, his reward is with Allah; whoever commits any of these and is punished for it in this world, that will be an expiation for him; and whoever commits any of these and Allah conceals it, his matter rests with Allah: if He wills, He will punish him, and if He wills, He will pardon him."
