«تحاجت النار والجنة فقالت النار: أوثرت بالمتكبرين والمتجبرين وقالت الجنة: فما لي لا يدخلني إلا ضعفاء الناس وسقطهم وعجزهم؟ فقال الله عز وجل للجنة: إنما أنت رحمتي أرحم بك من أشاء من عبادي وقال للنار: إنما أنت عذابي أعذب بك من أشاء من عبادي ولكل واحدة منكما ملؤها فأما النار فلا تمتلئ حتى يضع الله قدمه عليها فتقول: قط قط فهنالك تمتلئ وينزوي بعضها إلى بعض فلا يظلم الله من خلقه أحدا وأما الجنة فإن الله ينشئ لها خلقا»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Paradise and Hell disputed with each other. Hell said: 'I have been singled out for the arrogant and the tyrants.' And Paradise said: 'What is the matter with me that none enter me except the weak, the lowly and the helpless among people?' So Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said to Paradise: 'You are My mercy; through you I show mercy to whomever I wish among My servants.' And He said to Hell: 'You are My punishment; through you I punish whomever I wish among My servants. And each of you shall be filled.' As for Hell, it will not be filled until Allah places His foot upon it; then it will say: 'Enough, enough!' Then it will be filled, and its parts will draw together into one another, and Allah does not wrong anyone of His creation. As for Paradise, Allah will bring into being a new creation for it."
