«الأنصار شعار والناس دثار ولو أن الناس استقبلوا واديا أو شعبا واستقبلت الأنصار واديا لسلكت وادي الأنصار ولولا الهجرة لكنت امرءا من الأنصار»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The Ansar are like the inner garment worn next to the body (shi'ar), and the rest of the people are like the outer garment (dithar). If all the people were to take one valley or mountain pass, and the Ansar took another valley, I would take the path of the valley of the Ansar. And were it not for the (virtue of) Hijrah, I would have been one of the Ansar."
