«إذا أتيت مضجعك فتوضأ وضوئك للصلاة ثم اضطجع على شقك الأيمن ثم قل: اللهم أسلمت وجهي إليك وفوضت أمري إليك وألجأت ظهري إليك رغبة ورهبة إليك لا ملجأ ولا منجا منك إلا إليك آمنت بكتابك الذي أنزلت وبنبيك الذي أرسلت فإن مت من ليلتك فأنت على الفطرة واجعلهن آخر ما تتكلم به»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you come to your bed, perform ablution as you do for prayer, then lie down on your right side, then say this supplication: 'Allahumma aslamtu wajhi ilayka, wa fawwadtu amri ilayka, wa alja'tu zahri ilayka, raghbatan wa rahbatan ilayka, la malja'a wa la manja minka illa ilayka, amantu bi-kitabika alladhi anzalta wa bi-nabiyyika alladhi arsalta' (O Allah, I have submitted my face to You, entrusted my affair to You and placed my back under Your protection, out of hope for Your mercy and fear of Your punishment. There is no place of refuge and no escape from You except to You. I believe in Your Book which You revealed and in Your Prophet whom You sent). Then if you die that very night, you will die upon the natural religion (Islam). And make these words the last thing you say."
