«ألا إني أبرأ إلى كل خل من خلته ولو كنت متخذا خليلا لاتخذت أبا بكر خليلا وإن صاحبكم خليل الله»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Listen! I declare myself free of the intimate friendship of every intimate friend. If I were to take anyone as an intimate friend (khalil), I would have taken Abu Bakr, but indeed your companion (that is, I myself) is the intimate friend (khalil) of Allah."
