«ألا أعلمك كلمات تقولها إذا أويت إلى فراشك فإن مت من ليلتك مت على الفطرة وإن أصبحت أصبحت وقد أصبت خيرا؟ تقول: اللهم أسلمت نفسي إليك ووجهت وجهي إليك وفوضت أمري رغبة ورهبة إليك وألجأت ظهري إليك لا ملجأ ولا منجا منك إلا إليك آمنت بكتابك الذي أنزلت وبنبيك الذي أرسلت»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Shall I not teach you words to say when you lie down on your bed, so that if you die that very night you will die upon the natural religion (fitrah), and if you reach the morning you will attain good? Say: 'Allahumma aslamtu nafsi ilayk, wa wajjahtu wajhi ilayk, wa fawwadtu amri ilayk, raghbatan wa rahbatan ilayk, wa alja'tu zahri ilayk, la malja'a wa la manja minka illa ilayk, amantu bi-kitabika alladhi anzalt, wa bi-nabiyyika alladhi arsalt' (O Allah, I have submitted myself to You, turned my face to You, entrusted my affair to You, out of hope and fear of You, and relied upon You for support; there is no refuge and no escape from You except to You. I believe in Your Book which You revealed and in Your Prophet whom You sent)."
