"إنه لا تتم صلاة أحدكم حتى يسبغ الوضوء كما أمره الله فيغسل وجهه ويديه إلى المرفقين ويمسح رأسه ورجليه إلى الكعبين ثم يكبر الله ويحمده ويمجده ويقرأ ما تيسر من القرآن مما علمه الله وأذن له فيه ثم يكبر فيركع فيضع يديه على ركبتيه ويرفع حتى تطمئن مفاصله وتسترخي ثم يقول: سمع الله لمن حمده فيستوي قائما حتى يأخذ كل عظم مأخذه ويقيم صلبه ثم يكبر فيسجد فيمكن جبهته من الأرض حتى تطمئن مفاصله وتسترخي ثم يكبر فيرفع رأسه فيستوي قاعدا على مقعدته ¤ فيقيم صلبه ثم يكبر فيسجد حتى يمكن وجهه ويسترخي لا تتم صلاة أحدكم حتى يفعل ذلك"
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The prayer of any one of you is not complete until he performs ablution thoroughly, as Allah Almighty has commanded him: he washes his face and his hands up to the elbows, wipes over his head, and washes his feet up to the ankles. Then he declares the greatness of Allah (takbir), praises Him and glorifies Him, and recites whatever is easy for him of the Qur'an, of what Allah has taught him and permitted him. Then he says the takbir and bows, placing his hands on his knees and remaining (in bowing) until all his joints are at rest and relaxed. Then he says 'Sami'a Allahu liman hamidah' (Allah hears the one who praises Him) and stands up straight until every bone settles into its place and he straightens his back. Then he says the takbir and prostrates, placing his forehead firmly on the ground until his joints are at rest and relaxed. Then he says the takbir and raises his head, sitting upright on his seat and keeping his back straight. Then he says the takbir and prostrates until he places his face firmly (on the ground) and is at rest. The prayer of any one of you is not complete until he does this."
