"إنه لم يكن نبي قبلي إلا كان حقا عليه أن يدل أمته على ما يعلمه خيرا لهم وينذرهم ما يعلمه شرا لهم وإن أمتكم هذه جعل عافيتها في أولها وسيصيب آخرها بلاء شديد وأمور تنكرونها وتجيء فتن فيرفق بعضها بعضا وتجيء الفتنة فيقول ¤ المؤمن: هذه مهلكتي ثم تنكشف وتجيء الفتنة فيقول المؤمن: هذه هذه; فمن أحب منكم أن يزحزح عن النار ويدخل الجنة فلتأته منيته وهو يؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر وليأت إلى الناس الذي يحب أن يؤتى إليه ومن بايع إماما فأعطاه صفقة يده وثمرة قلبه فليطعه ما استطاع فإن جاء آخر ينازعه فاضربوا عنق الآخر"
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"There was no prophet before me except that it was a duty upon him to guide his nation to the good that he knew for them and to warn them of the evil that he knew for them. And indeed, the well-being of this nation of yours has been placed in its early period, and its later generations will be struck by severe trials and by matters that you will disapprove of. Trials will come, one of them making the other seem light (that is, each later trial will be more severe than the one before). A trial will come and the believer will say: This will be my ruin; then it will pass. Then another trial will come and the believer will cry out: This is my ruin, this is it. So whoever among you loves to be kept away from the Fire of Hell and admitted into Paradise, let his death come to him while he believes in Allah and the Last Day, and let him treat people the way he would love to be treated. And whoever pledges allegiance to an imam (a leader of the Muslims), giving him his hand and accepting him with the full consent of his heart, let him obey him as much as he is able. Then if another comes disputing with (and rebelling against) him (the leader), strike the neck of that other one."
