«إن بين يدي الساعة فتنا كقطع الليل المظلم يصبح الرجل فيها مؤمنا ويمسي كافرا ويمسي مؤمنا ويصبح كافرا القاعد فيها خير من القائم والقائم فيها خير من الماشي والماشي فيها خير من الساعي فكسروا قسيكم وقطعوا أوتاركم واضربوا سيوفكم بالحجارة فإن دخل على أحد منكم بيته فليكن كخير ابني آدم»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, before the Hour there will be trials (fitan) like pieces of the dark night. In them a man will be a believer in the morning and a disbeliever by evening, and a believer in the evening and a disbeliever by morning. In these trials the one sitting will be better than the one standing, the one standing will be better than the one walking, and the one walking will be better than the one running. So (in the time of these trials) break your bows, cut their strings and strike your swords against stones (to blunt them). Then if an attacker enters the house of any one of you, let him be like the better of the two sons of Adam (Habil) (that is, let him be killed rather than kill)."
