«إن العبد إذا لعن شيئا صعدت اللعنة إلى السماء فتغلق أبواب السماء دونها ثم تهبط إلى الأرض فتغلق أبوابها دونها ثم تأخذ يمينا وشمالا فإذا لم تجد مساغا رجعت إلى الذي لعن فإن كان لذلك أهلا وإلا رجعت إلى قائلها»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, when a servant curses something, that curse goes up toward the sky, but the gates of the sky are shut against it. Then it descends to the earth, and the gates of the earth are also shut against it. Then it seeks a way to the right and to the left, and when it finds no way, it returns to the person (or thing) that was cursed. If that one deserves it, (it falls upon it); otherwise it returns to the one who uttered it."
