«أما أهل النار الذين هم أهلها فإنهم لا يموتون فيها ولا يحيون ولكن ناس أصابتهم النار بذنوبهم فأماتتهم إماتة حتى إذا كانوا فحما أذن بالشفاعة فجيء بهم ضبائر ضبائر فبثوا على أنهار الجنة ثم قيل: يا أهل الجنة أفيضوا عليهم فينبتون نبات الحبة تكون في حميل السيل»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"As for the permanent inhabitants of Hell who are deserving of it, they will neither die in it nor live (rather, they will remain in continuous punishment). However, there will be some people whom the Fire will touch because of their sins, and it will burn them until they die, until, when they have become charcoal, permission for intercession will be given. Then they will be brought group after group and spread out upon the rivers of Paradise. Then it will be said: 'O people of Paradise, pour water over them.' So they will sprout just as a seed sprouts in the debris carried by a flood."
