Hadith 1193
´It was narrated from Salim that his father said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to pray two Rak’ah while traveling, and he did not do more than that. And he used to pray Tahajjud at night.” I asked: “Did he pray Witr?” He said: “Yes.”
Hadith 1194
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas and Ibn ‘Umar said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prescribed two Rak’ah of prayer when traveling; they are complete and are not shortened. And Witr when traveling is Sunnah.”
Hadith 1200
´It was narrated that Sa’eed bin Yasar said:` “I was with Ibn ‘Umar and I lagged behind and prayed Witr. He said: ‘What kept you?’ I said: ‘I was praying Witr.’ He said: ‘Do you not have the best of examples in the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)?’ I said: ‘Of course.’ He said: ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to pray Witr while riding his camel.’”

أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ
عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ
نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ
ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " سَهَا فَسَلَّمَ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ " ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ : ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَقَصُرَتْ أَمْ نَسِيتَ ؟ ، قَالَ : " مَا قَصُرَتْ وَمَا نَسِيتُ " ، قَالَ : صَلَّيْتَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، قَالَ : " أَكَمَا يَقُولُ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ " ، قَالُوا : نَعَمْ ، " فَتَقَدَّمَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيِ السَّهْوِ " .
´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forgot and said the Taslim after two Rak’ah. A man who was called Dhul-Yadain said to him:` ‘O Messenger of Allah, has the prayer been shortened or did you forget?’ He said: ‘It has not been shortened and I did not forget.’ He said: ‘But you prayed two Rak’ah.’ He said: ‘Is what Dhul-Yadain says true?’ They said: ‘Yes.’ So he went forward and performed two Rak’ah and said the Salam, then he prostrated twice for prostrations of forgetfulness.
Hadith 1258

ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ : " أَنْ يَكُونَ الْإِمَامُ يُصَلِّي بِطَائِفَةٍ مَعَهُ فَيَسْجُدُونَ سَجْدَةً وَاحِدَةً ، وَتَكُونُ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَ الْعَدُوِّ ، ثُمَّ يَنْصَرِفُ الَّذِينَ سَجَدُوا السَّجْدَةَ مَعَ أَمِيرِهِمْ ، ثُمَّ يَكُونُونَ مَكَانَ الَّذِينَ لَمْ يُصَلُّوا ، وَيَتَقَدَّمُ الَّذِينَ لَمْ يُصَلُّوا فَيُصَلُّوا مَعَ أَمِيرِهِمْ سَجْدَةً وَاحِدَةً ، ثُمَّ يَنْصَرِفُ أَمِيرُهُمْ وَقَدْ صَلَّى صَلَاتَهُ ، وَيُصَلِّي كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنَ الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ بِصَلَاتِهِ سَجْدَةً لِنَفْسِهِ ، فَإِنْ كَانَ خَوْفٌ أَشَدَّ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَرِجَالًا أَوْ رُكْبَانًا " ، قَالَ : يَعْنِي بِالسَّجْدَةِ : الرَّكْعَةَ .
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said concerning the fear prayer: “The Imam should lead one group in prayer, and they should perform one prostration, and there should be another group between them and the enemy (guarding them). Then those who did the prostration with their leader should move away, and take the place of those who have not yet prayed. Then those who have not yet prayed should come forward and perform one prostration with their leader. Then their leader should move away, and his prayer will be complete. Then each group should perform one prostration by itself. If the fear is too great, then (they should pray) on foot or riding.’” He said: What is meant by prostration here is a Rak’ah.
Hadith 1272

أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : " رُبَّمَا ذَكَرْتُ قَوْلَ الشَّاعِرِ ، وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ إِلَى وَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ، فَمَا نَزَلَ حَتَّى جَيَّشَ كُلُّ مِيزَابٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ ، فَأَذْكُرُ قَوْلَ الشَّاعِرِ : وَأَبْيَضَ يُسْتَسْقَى الْغَمَامُ بِوَجْهِهِ ، ثِمَالُ الْيَتَامَى عِصْمَةٌ لِلْأَرَامِلِ " ، وَهُوَ قَوْلُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ .
´Salim narrated that his father said:` “Sometimes I remember the words of the poet when I was looking at the face of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on the pulpit. He did not come down until all the waterspouts in Al-Madinah were filled with rain. And I remember what the poet said: ‘He has a white complexion and rain is sought by virtue of his countenance, He cares for the orphans, and protects the widows, These are the words of Abu Talib.”
Hadith 1276
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “The Prophet (ﷺ), then Abu Bakr, then ‘Umar, used to pray the ‘Eid prayer before delivering the sermon.”
Hadith 1295
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to go out to the ‘Eid prayers walking, and come back walking.”
Hadith 1299
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that he used to go out to the ‘Eid prayers via one route, and return via another, and he said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to do that.
Hadith 1304
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to set out for the praying place in the morning of the day of ‘Eid, and a small spear would be carried before him. When he reached the praying place, it would be set up in front of him, then he would pray facing it, and that was because the praying place was an open space in which there was nothing that could serve as a Sutrah*. *Sutrah (screen), meaning a barrier of some type.
Hadith 1305
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “When the Prophet (ﷺ) prayed on the day of ‘Eid or on another occasion, a small spear was set up in front of him, and he prayed facing it, and the people were behind him.” Nafi` said: It is from here that the leaders have taken this practice.
Hadith 1312
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “Two ‘Eid came together at the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), so he led the people in prayer, then he said: ‘Whoever wishes to come to Friday (prayer), let him come, and whoever wishes to stay behind, let him stay behind.’”

´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to offer the night prayers two by two.”
Hadith 1319
´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “The night prayer is (to be offered) two by two.”
Hadith 1320
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “The Prophet (ﷺ) was asked about the night prayer. He said: ‘Pray two by two, and if you fear that dawn is coming, then perform Witr with one Rak’ah.’”

´Ibn ‘Umar narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “Prayers at night and during the day are to be offered two by two.”

´It was narrated that ‘Amir Ash-Sha’bi said:` “I asked ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas and ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar about the Prophet’s prayer at night. They said: ‘(He prayed) thirteen Rak’ah, including eight, and three for Witr, and two Rak’ah after the Fajr.’”

´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Do not make your houses into graves.’”

´It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was shrouded in three thin white Suhuli cloths.”
Hadith 1482
´It was narrated from Salim that his father said:` “I saw the Prophet (ﷺ), Abu Bakr and ‘Umar walking ahead of the funeral (procession).”
Hadith 1523

ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أُبَيٍّ ، جَاءَ ابْنُهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَعْطِنِي قَمِيصَكَ أُكَفِّنْهُ فِيهِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " آذِنُونِي بِهِ " ، فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ عَلَيْهِ ، قَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ : مَا ذَاكَ لَكَ ، فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنَا بَيْنَ خِيَرَتَيْنِ ، اسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ ، أَوْ لَا تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَلا تُصَلِّ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ مَاتَ أَبَدًا وَلا تَقُمْ عَلَى قَبْرِهِ سورة التوبة آية 84 .
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “When ‘Abdullah bin Ubayy died, his son came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, give me your shirt so that I may shroud him in it.’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Notify me when he is ready (i.e., when he has been washed and shrouded).’ When the Prophet (ﷺ) wanted to offer the funeral prayer for him: ‘You should not do that.’ The Prophet (ﷺ) offered the funeral prayer for him, and the Prophet (ﷺ) said to him: ‘I have been given two choices: “...ask forgiveness for them (hypocrites) or ask not forgiveness for them...’” [9:80] Then Allah revealed: ‘And never pray (the funeral prayer) for any of them (hypocrites) who dies, nor stand at his grave.’” [9:84]
Hadith 1538
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (ﷺ) offered the funeral prayer for Najashi and said four Takbir.
Hadith 1542
´It was narrated from ‘Amir bin Rabi’ah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “When you see a funeral (procession) stand up for it until it has passed by or it is placed on the ground.”
Hadith 1550
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “When the deceased was placed in the grave, the Prophet (ﷺ) would say: ‘Bismillah, wa ‘ala millati rasul-illah (In the Name of Allah and according to the religion of the Messenger of Allah).’” Abu Khalid said on one occasion, when the deceased was placed in the grave: “Bismillah wa ‘ala sunnati rasul- illah (In the Name of Allah and according to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah).” Hisham said in his narration: “Bismillah, wa fi sabil-illah, wa ‘ala millati rasul-illah (In the Name of Allah, for the sake of Allah and according to the religion of the Messenger of Allah).”
Hadith 1553

حَمَّادُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْكَلْبِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا
إِدْرِيسُ الْأَوْدِيُّ ، عَنْ
سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، قَالَ : حَضَرْتُ
ابْنَ عُمَرَ فِي جِنَازَةٍ ، فَلَمَّا وَضَعَهَا فِي اللَّحْدِ ، قَالَ : " بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ، وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، وَعَلَى مِلَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ " ، فَلَمَّا أُخِذَ فِي تَسْوِيَةِ اللَّبِنِ عَلَى اللَّحْدِ ، قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْهَا مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ ، وَمِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ ، اللَّهُمَّ جَافِ الْأَرْضَ عَنْ جَنْبَيْهَا ، وَصَعِّدْ رُوحَهَا ، وَلَقِّهَا مِنْكَ رِضْوَانًا " ، قُلْتُ : يَا ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، أَشَيْءٌ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أَمْ قُلْتَهُ بِرَأْيِكَ ؟ ، قَالَ : إِنِّي إِذًا لَقَادِرٌ عَلَى الْقَوْلِ ، بَلْ شَيْءٌ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
´It was narrated that Sa’eed bin Musayyab said:` “I was present with Ibn ‘Umar at a funeral. When the body was placed in the niche-grave) he said, ‘Bismillah wa fi sabil-illah wa ‘ala millati rasul-illah’ (In the Name of Allah, for the sake of Allah and according to the religion of the Messenger of Allah). When he started to place bricks in the niche-grave he said: ‘Allahumma ajirha min ash-shaitani wa min ‘adhabil-qabr. Allahumma Jafil-arda ‘an janbaiha, wa sa’id ruhaha, wa laqqiha minka ridwana (O Allah, protect him from Satan and from the torment of the grave; O Allah, keep the earth away from his two sides and take his soul up and grant him pleasure from Yourself).’ I said: ‘O Ibn ‘Umar, is this something that you heard from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) or is it your own words?’ He said: ‘I could have said something like that, but this is something that I heard from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).’”

الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ
سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ
أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ أَبِي كَانَ يَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ ، وَكَانَ وَكَانَ فَأَيْنَ هُوَ ؟ ، قَالَ : " فِي النَّارِ " ، قَالَ : فَكَأَنَّهُ وَجَدَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَأَيْنَ أَبُوكَ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " حَيْثُمَا مَرَرْتَ بِقَبْرِ كَافِرٍ ، فَبَشِّرْهُ بِالنَّارِ " ، قَالَ : فَأَسْلَمَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ بَعْدُ ، وَقَالَ : لَقَدْ كَلَّفَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَعَبًا ، مَا مَرَرْتُ بِقَبْرِ كَافِرٍ ، إِلَّا بَشَّرْتُهُ بِالنَّارِ .
´It was narrated from Salim that his father said:` “A Bedouin came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, my father used to uphold the ties of kinship, and so and so forth, where is he?’ He said: ‘In the Fire.’ It was as if he found that difficult to bear. Then he said: ‘O Messenger of Allah. Where is your father?’ The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Whenever you pass by the grave of an idolater, give him the tidings of Hell-fire.’ The Bedouin later became Muslim, and he said: ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave me a difficult task. I never passed the grave of an idolater but I gave him the tidings of Hell-fire.’”
Hadith 1583
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade following a funeral that was accompanied by a wailing woman.”
Hadith 1591

هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا
عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَنْبَأَنَا
أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ
نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ
ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَرَّ بِنِسَاءِ عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ يَبْكِينَ هَلْكَاهُنَّ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَكِنَّ حَمْزَةَ لَا بَوَاكِيَ لَهُ " ، فَجَاءَ نِسَاءُ الْأَنْصَارِ يَبْكِينَ حَمْزَةَ ، فَاسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " وَيْحَهُنَّ مَا انْقَلَبْنَ بَعْدُ مُرُوهُنَّ ، فَلْيَنْقَلِبْنَ وَلَا يَبْكِينَ عَلَى هَالِكٍ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ " .
´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) passed by some women of ‘Abdul-Ashhal who were weeping for their slain on the Day of Uhud. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “But there is no one to weep for Hamzah.” So the women of Ansar started to weep for Hamzah. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) woke up and said, ‘Woe to them, have they not gone home yet? Tell them to go home and not to weep for anyone who dies after this day.’”
Hadith 1593
´It was narrated from ‘Umar bin Khattab that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “The deceased is punished for the wailing over him.”
Hadith 1632
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “We used to be guarded in our speech even with our wives at the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), fearing that Qur’an may be revealed amongst us, but when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) died, we began to speak freely.”
Hadith 1654
´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` ‘When you see the new crescent, fast, and when you see it, stop fasting. If it is cloudy then calculate it (as thirty days).” Ibn ‘Umar used to fast one day before the new crescent was seen.
Hadith 1665
´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` "It is not an act of righteousness to fast while traveling."
Hadith 1700
´It was narrated from Hafsah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` "There is no fast for the one who did not make it incumbent upon himself from the night before."
Hadith 1737
حَدَّثَنَا

عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّهُ ذُكِرَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمُ عَاشُورَاءَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَانَ يَوْمًا يَصُومُهُ أَهْلُ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، فَمَنْ أَحَبَّ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَصُومَهُ فَلْيَصُمْهُ ، وَمَنْ كَرِهَهُ فَلْيَدَعْهُ " .
´It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar that the Day of ‘Ashura’ was mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “That was a day when the people of the Ignorance used to fast. So whoever among you wants to fast may do so, and whoever does not want to may leave it.”
Hadith 1755
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “The Prophet (ﷺ) would not go out on the Day of Fitr until he had had given his Companions some of the charity of Fitr to eat.”
Hadith 1757
´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` ‘Whoever dies owing the fasts of a month, one poor person should be fed on his behalf for each day.”

It was narrated from ‘Umar that he had vowed during the days of Ignorance to spend one night in I’tikaf. He asked the Prophet (ﷺ) about it, so he commanded him to spend it in I’tikaf.

´It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar that:` The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to spend the last ten days of Ramadan in I’tikaf. Nafi' said: " Abdullah bin 'Umar showed me the place where the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to observe I'tikaf."
