أخبرنا عبد الصمد بن علي بن مُكرَم البزَّاز ببغداد، حدثنا جعفر بن محمد ابن شاكر، حدثنا أبو مَعمَر عبد الله بن عمرو (2)، حدثنا عبد الوارث بن سعيد، حدثنا حسين المعلِّم، عن عبد الله بن بُرَيدة، عن حَنظَلة بن علي، أنَّ مِحجَنَ بن الأدرَع حدَّثه قال: دَخَلَ رسولُ الله ﷺ المسجدَ فإذا هو برجل قد صلَّى صلاتَه وهو يتشهَّدُ ويقول: اللهمَّ إني أسألُك بالله (3) الأحدِ الصَّمد، الذي لم يَلِدْ ولم يُولَدْ، ولم يكن له كُفُوًا أَحد، أن تَغفِرَ ذُنوبي، إنك أنت الغَفُورُ الرحيم، فقال: "قد غُفِرَ له، قد غُفِرَ له، قد غُفِرَ له" (4).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

Sayyiduna Mihjan bin al-Adra' (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque, and there was a man who, having prayed, was making this supplication in the tashahhud: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka billahil-Ahadis-Samad, alladhi lam yalid wa lam yulad, wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad, an taghfira li dhunubi, innaka antal-Ghafurur-Rahim' (O Allah, I ask You by virtue of Your being One and Self-Sufficient, the One who neither begot nor was begotten, and to whom no one is equal, that You forgive my sins; indeed You alone are the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful). On hearing this, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said three times: "He has been forgiven, he has been forgiven, he has been forgiven."
This hadith is sahih on the condition of the two Shaykhs, but they did not record it.

(2) تحرَّف "عمرو" في النسخ الخطية إلى: عمر، بإسقاط الواو، وأبو معمر هذا: هو المُقعَد البصري راوية عبد الوارث بن سعيد.
Technical note: (2) In the manuscripts it had become "Umar"; the correct form is "Amr". Abu Ma'mar is al-Muq'ad al-Basri, the transmitter of Abd al-Warith.
(3) هكذا تُقرَأ في أصولنا الخطية، وفي بعض مصادر الحديث: يا اللهُ.
Technical note: (3) It reads thus in our original manuscripts; some sources have the words "Ya Allah".
(4) إسناده صحيح. ¤ ¤ وأخرجه أبو داود (985) عن أبي معمر عبد الله بن عمرو، بهذا الإسناد.
Grading: (4) Its chain is sahih. Abu Dawud (985) also narrated it with this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد 31/ (18974)، والنسائي (1225) و (7618) من طريق عبد الصمد بن عبد الوارث بن سعيد، عن أبيه، به.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (31/18974) and al-Nasa'i (1225, 7618) narrated it via the chain of Abd al-Samad from his father (Abd al-Warith), with this same chain.
وسيأتي بنحوه من حديث عبد الله بن بريدة عن أبيه برقم (1879).
