Sayyiduna al-Muttalib bin Abi Wada'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when he finished his tawaf, come to one edge of the area of circumambulation and pray two rak'ahs, with no one (as a barrier) between him and those performing tawaf.
This hadith is sahih (authentic), and Imam Bukhari mentioned in his al-Tarikh that Sayyiduna al-Muttalib saw the Prophet.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note: (2) The words "from his father" had dropped out of the manuscripts; we restored them from the printed edition, since they are present in the other sources.
Grading: (3) Its narrators are deemed trustworthy, but Technical note / Defect ('illah): this narration is "ma'lul" (defective), as Ibn Hajar said. Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah explained its defect: Kathir bin Kathir admitted that he did not hear it from his father but from some member of his family, who heard it from his grandfather (al-Muttalib bin Abi Wada'ah); hence the intermediary is "mubham" (unnamed). Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad 45/ (27244), al-Nasa'i (3939) and Ibn Hibban (2363) by way of Yahya bin Sa'id al-Qattan with this same chain. Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ibn Majah (2958) and al-Nasa'i (836) by two routes from Ibn Jurayj. Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ibn Hibban (2364) through al-Walid bin Muslim from Zuhayr bin Muhammad, but the Syrians' narrations from Zuhayr are not sound, and this is one of them.
8/ 7. Technical note: (4) The printed edition has "riwayah"; see al-Bukhari's "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" (8/7).
