Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 9004

Abu Salamah narrates from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him); he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hell was presented to me, and in it I saw Amr bin Qam'ah bin Khindif, that is Abu Amr, and he was dragging his intestines in Hell. He was the first person to set free sa'ibah (animals, in the name of idols) and to alter the religion (covenant) of Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him). And I found him to resemble Aktham bin Abi al-Jawn more than anyone else." The narrator said that Aktham said: O Messenger of Allah! Will my resemblance to him harm me? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, you are certainly a Muslim and he was a disbeliever."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) Its chain is hasan on account of Muhammad bin 'Amr, who is Ibn 'Alqamah al-Laythi. Abu Hatim al-Razi is Muhammad bin Idris bin al-Mundhir, and Abu Salamah is Ibn 'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Awf.
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (7490) narrated it by way of al-Fadl bin Musa, from Muhammad bin 'Amr, with this chain, and in it is (the name) "'Amr bin Luhayy bin Qam'ah".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): As for giving him the kunyah "Abu 'Amr", this occurs only with the author (al-Hakim), and no one else mentioned a kunyah for him.
Reference / Source: It was narrated in abridged form by Ahmad 14/ (8787), al-Bukhari (3521), Muslim (2856) (51), al-Nasa'i (11091) and Ibn Hibban (6260) by way of Sa'id bin al-Musayyab, and by al-Bukhari (3520) and Muslim (2856) (50) by way of Abu Salih al-Samman, both of them from Abu Hurayrah. Neither of them mentioned Aktham bin Abi al-Jawn and his resemblance to 'Amr bin Luhayy.
