كما حدَّثَناه أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق الصَّغَاني (2)، حدثنا يحيى بن حمَّاد، حدثنا عبد العزيز بن المختار، حدثني عبد الله بن فَيْروزَ الداناجُ، حدثني طَلْق بن حبَيب قال: سمعت جابر بن عبد الله الأنصاريَّ يقول: رأيتُ الدُّخانَ من مسجد الضِّرارِ حين انهارَ (3). هذا إسناد صحيح. وقد حدَّثني جماعةٌ من أصحابنا الغُرباء أنهم عرفوا هذا المسجدَ وشاهدوا هذا الدُّخان، وقد قدَّمتُ الروايةَ الصحيحة أنَّ جهنَّم تحت الأرض السابعة (4).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: "I saw smoke rising from Masjid al-Dirar when it was demolished."
This chain is sahih (authentic). A number of our companions who came from abroad have told me that they identified this mosque and witnessed this smoke, and I have already presented the sahih narration that Hell is beneath the seventh earth.

(2) تحرَّف في النسخ الخطية إلى الصنعاني، والتصويب من "إتحاف المهرة" (2817).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (2) In the manuscripts this has been corrupted into "al-San'ani", and the correction is from "Ithaf al-Maharah" (2817).
وأبو العباس الأصم شيخ المصنف لا يروي عن الصنعاني شيئًا، ولا يروي إلّا عن الصَّغَاني.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu al-'Abbas al-Asamm, the author's shaykh, does not narrate anything from "al-San'ani"; he narrates only from "al-Saghani".
(3) إسناده جيد من أجل طلق بن حبيب.
Grading: (3) Its chain is good (jayyid) on account of Talq bin Habib.
وأخرجه مسدَّد في "مسنده" كما في "المطالب العالية" (3625)، والطبري في "تفسيره" 11/ 23 و 34، وكذا ابن أبي حاتم 6/ 1884 من طريق عبد العزيز بن المختار، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Musaddad narrated it in his "Musnad", as is found in "al-Matalib al-'Aliyah" (3625), al-Tabari in his "Tafsir" 11/ 23 and 34, and likewise Ibn Abi Hatim 6/ 1884, by way of 'Abd al-'Aziz bin al-Mukhtar, with this chain.
ورؤية الدخان الذي ذكره جابر من أجل أنَّ رسولَ الله ﷺ قد أَمر بهدم ذلك المسجد وتحريقه كما وقع عند أصحاب السير والمغازي. انظر "سيرة ابن هشام" 2/ 350.
Note / Clarification: The sighting of the smoke that Jabir mentioned was because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had ordered that mosque (Masjid al-Dirar) to be demolished and burned, as is reported by the authors of the Sirah and Maghazi works. See "Sirat Ibn Hisham" 2/ 350.
(4) يشير إلى الحديث المتقدم برقم (8971)، وإسناده ضعيف عند جمهور المحدثين.
Reference / Source: (4) This refers to the hadith that passed at number (8971).
Grading: Its chain is weak according to the majority of the hadith scholars.
