حدثنا أبو الحسين علي بن عبد الرحمن السَّبِيعي بالكوفة، حدثنا أحمد ابن حازم بن (1) أبي غَرَزة، حدثنا عُبيد الله بن موسى، أخبرنا سفيان الثَّوْري، عن عمرو بن قيس المُلَائي، عن عطيَّة، عن ابن عمر في هذه الآية: ﴿وَإِذَا وَقَعَ الْقَوْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَخْرَجْنَا لَهُمْ دَابَّةً مِنَ الْأَرْضِ تُكَلِّمُهُمْ﴾ [النمل: 82] قال: إذا لم يَأمُروا بالمعروف، ولم يَنهَوْا عن المنكَر (2).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning this verse: "And when the word is fulfilled against them, We will bring forth for them a beast from the earth that will speak to them" [Surah al-Naml: 82], that he said: "(This will happen) when people no longer enjoin good and no longer forbid evil."

(1) لفظ "بن" تحرَّف في النسخ الخطية إلى: عن.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts the word "bin" was corrupted into "'an".
(2) إسناده ضعيف لضعف عطية: وهو ابن سعد العَوْفي.
Grading: Its chain is weak because 'Atiyyah is weak;
Technical note / Defect ('illah): 'Atiyyah is ''Atiyyah bin Sa'd al-'Awfi'.
وأخرجه نعيم بن حماد في "الفتن" (1876)، وعبد الرزاق في "تفسيره" 2/ 85، وابن أبي شيبة 15/ 172، وابن أبي الدنيا في "الأمر بالمعروف" (30)، والطبري في "تفسيره" 20/ 13 - 14 و 14 من طرق عن سفيان الثوري، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Nu'aym bin Hammad narrated it in "al-Fitan" (1876), 'Abd al-Razzaq in his "Tafsir" [2/85], Ibn Abi Shaybah [15/172], Ibn Abi al-Dunya in "al-Amr bil-Ma'ruf" (30) and al-Tabari in his "Tafsir" [20/13-14 and 14] by various routes from Sufyan al-Thawri, with this same chain.
وأخرجه الطبري أيضًا 20/ 14، وابن أبي حاتم في "التفسير" 9/ 2921، والثعلبي في "تفسيره" 7/ 223 من طريقين عن عمرو بن قيس، به.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabari also narrated it [20/14], and Ibn Abi Hatim in "al-Tafsir" [9/2921] and al-Tha'labi in his "Tafsir" [7/223], by two routes from 'Amr bin Qays, with this same chain.
وقد سلف برقم (8703).
