أخبرنا أبو العباس القاسم بن القاسم السَّيّاري بمَرْو، أخبرنا أبو الموجِّه، أخبرنا عَبْدانُ، أخبرنا عبد الله، أخبرني عبد الحميد بن صَيْفيّ بن عبد الله بن صُهيب، عن أبيه، عن جدِّه، أنَّ صُهيبًا قال: قَدِمتُ على النَّبِيّ ﷺ وبين يديه تمرٌ وخبزٌ، فقال: "ادنُهْ فكُلْ" فأخذتُ آكلُ من التمر، فقال: "تأكلُ تمرًا وبك رَمَدٌ؟! " فقلت: يا رسول الله، إني أمضَعُ من الناحية الأُخرى، فتبسَّم النَّبِيُّ ﷺ (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and there were dates and bread placed before him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Come near and eat." So I began eating the dates. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You are eating dates while you have an eye inflammation?!" I said: O Messenger of Allah, I am chewing on the other side. At that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(1) حديث محتمل للتحسين بطرقه، وهذا إسناد فيه لِينٌ. وقد سلف برقم (5808).
Grading: By virtue of its routes this hadith can possibly be graded hasan, but this chain has "lin" (weakness). It has already passed at number (5808).
أبو الموجَّه: هو محمد بن عمرو الفَزَاري، وعبدان: هو عبد الله بن عثمان المروزي، وعبد الله: هو ابن المبارك.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (Identifying the narrators): Abu al-Muwajjih is Muhammad bin Amr al-Fazari, Abdan is Abdullah bin Uthman al-Marwazi, and Abdullah is Ibn al-Mubarak.
