Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts this name is corrupted into "Hawdhah".
Note / Clarification: The manuscripts have "من أسمائها" (among their names), while manuscript (K) has "بأسمائهم" (with their names).
Note / Clarification: The wording is like this in the manuscripts and in al-Dhahabi's "al-Talkhis", and it is "unintelligible", whereas the sources of takhrij have the words "بقية القوس". "al-Qaws" means (as in Ibn al-Athir's
Reference / Source: "al-Nihayah"): the dates remaining at the bottom of a date basket (jullah), as though likened to the hump (qaws) of a camel, which is its raised part.
Grading: This hadith can possibly be graded hasan, God willing, but this chain has "lin" (softness, i.e. slight weakness).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): No one narrated from Hud bin Abdullah except Talib bin Hujayr, and Talib is "saduq", there is no harm in him; but no declaration of Hud's trustworthiness is reported from anyone except Ibn Hibban. Al-Bukhari, in
Reference / Source: "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (587), recorded some of his narrations from the long story of the delegation of Abd al-Qays concerning the virtue of forbearance and deliberateness, while Ibn al-Qattan declared him "majhul" (unknown).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Al-Hakim al-Tirmidhi recorded it in "Nawadir al-Usul" (1399), Ibn Abi Asim in "al-Ahad wa al-Mathani" (1690), Abu Ya'la (6850), al-Tabarani in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" 20/ (812), and Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (6319), via Muhammad bin Sudran, from Talib bin Hujayr, with this chain, at length, within the story of the arrival of the delegation of Abd al-Qays.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic, within a long hadith of one of the delegation of Abd al-Qays in "Musnad Ahmad" 24/ (15559), he (peace and blessings be upon him) said about the "Barni" date: "Indeed, it is the best of your dates and the most beneficial of them for you." And there is weakness in its chain.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The narration of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) has already passed with the author at number (7638), and that of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri at number (7639), and there is weakness in both their chains.
Important point: Taken together, these hadiths make it possible to grade the hadith of Hud as hasan.
