Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7676

It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a girl in her house who had a yellowish or dark discoloration (saf'ah) on her face, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Have ruqyah done for her, for she has been afflicted by the evil eye."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by al-Bukhari (5739) via Muhammad bin Khalid.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Muslim (2197), and in it there is also the addition "meaning, there was a yellowness on her face". The author (al-Hakim) adding it as a supplement (istidrak) to the two Shaykhs is an oversight on his part.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): There is disagreement in the narration of Uqayl bin Khalid, the details of which will come under narration no. (8481).
Note / Clarification: "Saf'ah" refers to a mark on the face of blackness, or of redness tinged with black, or of yellowness. "Al-nazrah" means that she has been struck by the evil eye. For further details see "Fath al-Bari" 17/ 554 - 555.
