Amr bin Shu'ayb narrates from his father, from his grandfather (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As, may Allah be pleased with them both), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever practises medicine without being known for skill in medicine, he is liable (for any harm to life or property)."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: It is "hasan li-ghayrihi" (hasan due to supporting reports). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its own chain is weak because of Ibn Jurayj's tadlis ('an'anah). According to al-Bukhari he did not hear from Amr bin Shu'ayb, but after investigation his hearing from him is established in many chains. According to al-Daraqutni, narrators other than al-Walid bin Muslim narrate it from Ibn Jurayj only as "mursal". Reference / Source: It was recorded by Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah and al-Nasa'i through various routes from al-Walid bin Muslim, with this chain. Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i recorded it in another place (7006) in which Amr's father "Shu'ayb" is not mentioned. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is also the narration of Abd al-Aziz bin Umar, recorded by Abu Dawud (4587); its narrators are thiqah, but it is "mursal". Note / Clarification: "Tatabbaba" refers to a person who claims to practise medicine although he is not skilled in this art. General principle: "Damin" (liable) means that he is obliged to pay compensation for any harm to life or property caused by his wrong treatment.
