It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): Nafi' said: Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said to me: "O Nafi', find me a cupper who is neither a young boy nor an old man, for my blood has surged (tabayyagha). And I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Cupping (hijamah) increases the intellect and increases memory. So (have it done) with the name of Allah on Thursday. Do not have cupping done on Friday, Saturday or Sunday; rather, have it done on Monday and Tuesday. And leprosy and vitiligo descend only on the night of Wednesday.'"
All the narrators of this hadith are trustworthy except Ghazal bin Muhammad, for he is unknown; I do not know him in terms of either reliability or criticism. However, this hadith is authentically reported from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) as his own statement (mawquf).

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Important point: In the manuscripts this word is corrupted into "al-Uryani".
Grading: Its chain is wahin (extremely weak). Technical note / Defect ('illah): The narrator's name is Ghazal bin Muhammad, who is also called Adhdhal. Al-Dhahabi said: it is not known who he is; Ahmad bin Ali al-Sulaymani listed him among those who fabricate hadith and mentioned this hadith from him. This report of his about cupping is munkar, and according to al-Bazzar nothing but this one hadith is narrated from him. Reference / Source: It was recorded by al-Bazzar in his "Musnad" (5968), Abu Nu'aym in "al-Tibb al-Nabawi" (297) and Ibn al-Jawzi in "al-Ilal al-Mutanahiyah" (1463) via Ziyad bin Yahya al-Hassani, with this chain. Technical note / Defect ('illah): The printed editions of "al-Tibb al-Nabawi" and "al-Ilal al-Mutanahiyah" contain an omission (dropped text) and confusion. Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ibn Majah (3487), Ibn Hibban in "al-Majruhin" 2/ 100 and Ibn Adi in "al-Kamil" 2/ 308 and 5/ 163 via Uthman bin Matar, from al-Hasan bin Abi Ja'far, from Muhammad bin Juhadah. Grading: This chain is also wahin, because Uthman and al-Hasan are agreed to be weak, and both of them narrate munkar reports. Details of the narration: This narration will also come with the author (al-Hakim) at no. (8460). Technical note / Defect ('illah): There, Uthman bin Matar is named "Uthman bin Ja'far", and the intermediary (between him and Ibn Juhadah) is also dropped. In reality, Abu Ali al-Makfuf Uthman is "Uthman bin Matar" himself, who is matruk and agreed to be weak. No narrator named Uthman bin Ja'far is known; most likely the narrator erred in naming him. Grading: This chain is very weak, because Abd Allah bin Ismah and Sa'id bin Maymun are both majhul (unknown), and there is also another weak narrator in it. Details of the narration: This narration will come at no. (7671) via Abu Salih Abd Allah bin Salih. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Hatim declared it defective by saying that it is among the narrations that were inserted (by others) into Abu Salih's material. Grading: Abu Hatim al-Razi declared it a "batil (false) hadith". Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its narrators Muhammad and his father are both majhul (unknown). Grading: Abu Hatim said that this hadith is worth nothing ("laysa bi-shay'") and that it is not the hadith of truthful people. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Isma'il and al-Muthanna are majhul. According to Ibn Hibban, al-Muthanna bin Amr narrates from Abu Sinan what is not from the hadith of trustworthy narrators, so it is not permissible to use him as proof. Note / Clarification: The word "tabayyagh", also "tabawwagh", means when the blood surges in its vessels, lingers, or its flow becomes disordered.
