Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7611

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty has not sent down any disease without also sending down its cure, and in the milk of cows there is a cure for every disease."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it. Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami and Tariq bin Shihab have both narrated it from Abdullah bin Mas'ud. As for the hadith of Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami:

Note / Clarification: (2) In the manuscripts this name is distorted into "Sulayman".

Grading: (3) The hadith is sahih, and this chain is strong (qawi) because of Abu Qilabah al-Raqashi (and he has also been corroborated).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): There is disagreement over whether it is marfu', mawquf or mursal, as al-Daraqutni mentioned in "al-Ilal" (6/ 28-29), and he graded its being marfu' as correct.
Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i (7523) recorded it from Zayd bin Akhzam, from Abu Zayd Sa'id bin al-Rabi' al-Amiri, with this chain, in abridged form, mentioning cows' milk.
Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i (6836) recorded it in full through the route of al-Hajjaj bin Muhammad al-Missisi, from Shu'bah, from al-Rabi' bin Lut, from Qays.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Here he put al-Rabi' bin Lut in place of al-Rukayn; although both are trustworthy, this narration is shadh.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Isra'il bin Yunus also narrated it from the hadith of al-Rukayn, which will come with the author at number (8428), with the same meaning but different wording.
Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i (6834) and Ibn Hibban (6075) recorded it through the route of Muhammad bin Yusuf al-Firyabi, from Sufyan al-Thawri, from Qays bin Muslim, with this chain.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abd al-Rahman bin Mahdi, who has better memory and precision than al-Firyabi, contradicted al-Firyabi: he narrated it from Sufyan al-Thawri, from Yazid bin Abi Khalid, from Qays, from Tariq bin Shihab, as mursal; this is in Musnad Ahmad (31/ 18831) and al-Nasa'i (6835, 7522). Yazid bin Abi Khalid has some weakness (lin). Imam Abu Hatim said ("al-Ilal" 2255): "No one narrates it with a connected chain (from al-Thawri) except al-Firyabi, and I do not think al-Thawri heard it from Qays; I consider it mudallas." Al-Nasa'i (7521) also recorded it through the route of Ayyub bin A'idh al-Ta'i, from Qays, from Tariq bin Shihab, as mursal.
Note: It will come later through the route of al-Mas'udi, from Qays, as marfu', at number (7613).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is a report from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) in al-Bukhari (5678), mentioning its first part.
