It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Leave what makes you doubt for what does not make you doubt, for truthfulness brings peace of heart and lying brings doubt and unease."

Grading: This hadith is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Concerning the narrator Muhammad bin Sa'd al-Awfi, al-Daraqutni said "la ba'sa bihi" (there is no harm in him), while al-Khatib al-Baghdadi called him "layyin" (weak); Imam al-Dhahabi declared this chain strong in the "Talkhis". We say: Muhammad al-Awfi has been corroborated in what passed earlier with the author (al-Hakim) at number (2199).
