It is narrated from Sayyidah Umaymah bint Ruqayqah al-Tamimiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) together with the Muslim women. We said: O Messenger of Allah, we have come to you (peace and blessings be upon him) to pledge allegiance on the condition that we will not associate anything with Allah, we will not steal, we will not commit fornication, we will not kill our children, we will not bring forth a slander that we have invented between our hands and our feet, and we will not disobey you (peace and blessings be upon him) in anything good. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In what you are able to do and have the strength for." We said: Allah and His Messenger are more merciful to us than we are to ourselves. Then we said: O Messenger of Allah, take our pledge. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go, I have accepted your pledge. My speaking to one woman is like my speaking to a hundred women." And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not shake hands with any woman among us.
