It is narrated from Mus'ab bin Abdullah al-Zubayri that the name of Sayyidah Umm Khalid (may Allah be pleased with her) is Amah bint Khalid bin Sa'id bin al-As bin Umayyah. Sayyiduna Khalid bin Sa'id had emigrated to Abyssinia together with his wife Humaynah bint Khalaf, and it was there that Amah bint Khalid was born to them. She remained in Abyssinia until they arrived (in Madinah) on the two ships; by then Amah had grown up and reached the age of understanding. She was married to Sayyiduna al-Zubayr bin al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him), and from him her sons Umar and Khalid were born. She lived a long life and narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
