Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7097

It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm al-Hakam bint al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with her) that she offered the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a shoulder of meat; he (peace and blessings be upon him) ate from it and then prayed.
Hammad bin Salamah (may Allah have mercy on him) was mistaken about this name and called her "Umm Hakim".

Explanation & Benefits

Grading: This hadith is "sahih li-ghayrihi" (authentic on the strength of other supporting reports).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): All the narrators of this chain are thiqah except 'Abd al-Rahman al-Harithi, but he has been corroborated. There is disagreement among Qatadah and other narrators in narrating it from Ishaq bin Abdullah bin al-Harith, as explained in detail under hadith (27091) of Musnad Ahmad.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it at 45/ (27356) through Mu'adh bin Hisham with this same chain, and in it the female narrator's name is given as "Umm Hakim".
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it at (27091) and (27354) through Yazid bin Harun, and at (27355) through Rawh bin 'Ubadah. Both of them (Yazid and Rawh) narrate from Sa'id bin Abi 'Arubah, from Qatadah, from Salih Abu al-Khalil, from Abdullah bin al-Harith bin Nawfal, from Umm Hakim bint al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with her).

Note / Clarification: In this regard see the next hadith and the earlier hadith no. (7095).

Important point: The name of this female narrator is also given as "Umm Hakim" in the "Musnad" of Ishaq bin Rahawayh (2169), which he narrated with the chain 'Abd al-A'la, from Dawud bin Abi Hind, from Ishaq bin Abdullah bin al-Harith, that Umm Hakim bint al-Zubayr narrated this hadith.
