Mustadrak al-Hakim 6904 — The Messenger of Allah ﷺ marrying Hafsah

It is narrated from al-Maqburi, from his father, that he said: I saw Marwan carrying the bier of Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) between its two poles from the house of the family of Hazm to the house of al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him), and then Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) carried her from the house of al-Mughirah to her grave.

Note / Clarification: (2) The text between the square brackets had dropped out of the manuscripts, and we have supplied it from the takhrij sources.

Technical note / Defect ('illah): (3) Ali bin Muslim - who is Ibn Khabbab - is a "majhul" narrator. Ibn Abi Hatim (6/ 203) mentioned him and remained silent about him (giving no criticism or praise), and did not mention any narrator from him. Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat" and said: He narrates from Sa'id al-Maqburi, and the people of Iraq narrated from him.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ibn Sa'd in "al-Tabaqat" (10/ 84) - and from him al-Baladhuri in "Ansab al-Ashraf" (1/ 428) - and al-Tabari in his "Tarikh" (11/ 603) via Muhammad bin Umar al-Waqidi, with this chain.
