أخبرَناه أبو بكر أحمد بن سَلمان (5) الفقيه ببغداد، حَدَّثَنَا هِلال بن العلاء الرَّقِّي، حَدَّثَنَا أبي، حَدَّثَنَا عبيد الله بن عمرو الرقِّي، عن عبد الله بن محمد بن عَقيل قال: تزوَّج رسولُ الله ﷺ اثنتي عشرةَ (6) امرأة (7). قد خالفهما في ذلك قَتَادة بن دِعامة وغيرُه من الأئمة، أما قول قَتَادة فيه:

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married twelve women.

Note / Clarification: (5) In the handwritten manuscripts this name is distorted into "Sulayman".
(6) في (ز) و (م) و (ب): اثني عشر، والمثبت من (ص).
Note / Clarification: (6) In manuscripts (Z), (M) and (B) it is "ithnay 'ashar", whereas here it is established from manuscript (S).
(7) إسناده حسن إلى عبد الله بن محمد بن عقيل، وابن عقيل ليِّن، لكنه متابع.
Grading: (7) Its chain is hasan up to Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil; Ibn Aqil, although "layyin" (weak), has been corroborated.
وأخرجه أبو زرعة الدمشقي في "تاريخه" ص 490 عن أبي توبة الربيع بن نافع، عن عبيد الله بن عمرو، به مطولًا.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Abu Zur'ah al-Dimashqi in his "Tarikh" p. 490 from Abu Tawbah al-Rabi' bin Nafi', from Ubaydullah bin Amr, with this same chain at length.
