Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6731

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I was present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and I heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "The order and dominance of this Ummah will remain established until twelve caliphs have passed." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said something that was hidden from me (because of the noise). My father was sitting closer to the gathering of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) than I was, so I asked him: "What did he (peace and blessings be upon him) say?" He told me that his (peace and blessings be upon him) words were: "All of them will be from Quraysh."

Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam al-Hakim's istidrak of this narration (including it in al-Mustadrak) is due to "dhuhul" (oversight), since it is already in al-Bukhari and Muslim.
