Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In manuscripts (M) and (S) the word "bin" has been inserted here superfluously (iqham), whereas in manuscript (B) it is recorded correctly.

Grading: Its chain can possibly be graded "hasan".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The chain contains Baqiyyah bin al-Walid and Hafs bin 'Umar bin Sa'd. Hafs bin 'Umar was narrated from by his son 'Umar and by Imam al-Zuhri, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat".
Note / Clarification: "Al-Zubaydi" is Muhammad bin al-Walid bin 'Amir al-Zubaydi.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" (5449) via al-Hasan bin 'Ali al-Ma'mari with this same chain.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi 'Asim recorded it in "al-Ahad wa-l-Mathani" (2255) and Abu Bakr al-Firyabi in "Ahkam al-'Idayn" (105) through the route of Muhammad bin Musaffa.
Details of the narration: They also added in it that the Sunnah in the prayer of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr is that the imam says seven takbirs in the first rak'ah before the recitation and five takbirs in the second rak'ah before the recitation.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Shafi'i narrated it (as in al-Bayhaqi's "Ma'rifat al-Sunan" 2634) via his "trustworthy teacher", from al-Zuhri, from Hafs bin 'Umar bin Sa'd al-Qaraz, that his grandfather Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) mentioned this practice.
