أخبرنا الشيخ أبو بكر بن إسحاق، أخبرنا علي بن عبد العزيز، حدثنا مُعَلَّى بن مهدي المَوْصلي، حدثنا عِمران بن خالد الخُزاعي، عن (1) البُناني، عن أنس ابن مالك قال: دخَلَ سلمانُ الفارسيُّ على عمر بن الخطاب وهو متكئٌ على وِسادة، فألقاها له، فقال سلمانُ: صَدَق الله ورسولُه، فقال عمر: حدِّثْنا يا أبا عبد الله. قال: دخلتُ على رسول الله ﷺ وهو متكئٌ على وِسادةٍ فألقاها إليَّ، ثم قال لي: "يا سلمانُ، ما مِن مسلم يَدخُل على أخيه المسلم فيُلقي له وسادة إكرامًا له، إلَّا غَفَر الله له" (2).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was reclining on a cushion, and he laid the cushion out for him. Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Abu Abdullah! Narrate a hadith to us. He said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was reclining on a cushion, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) pushed the cushion towards me, then said to me: "O Salman! There is no Muslim who goes to his Muslim brother and he offers him a cushion to honour him, except that Allah Almighty forgives him."

Technical note / Defect ('illah): The word "'an" had dropped out of the manuscripts; it has been established in the text with the help of the "Mahmudiyyah manuscript" and the "Mayman edition".
والبناني: هو ثابت بن أسلم.
Important point: Al-Bunani mentioned in the chain is the well-known Successor "Thabit bin Aslam" (Thabit al-Bunani).
(2) إسناده واهٍ، عمران بن خالد الخزاعي قال أحمد: متروك الحديث، وقال الدارقطني في "تعليقه على المجروحين": منكر الحديث، وضعفه أبو حاتم الرازي، وبه أعله الذهبي في "الميزان"، فقال: خبر ساقط.
Grading: Its chain is "wahin" (extremely weak).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): 'Imran bin Khalid al-Khuza'i was declared "matruk al-hadith" by Imam Ahmad and "munkar al-hadith" by Imam al-Daraqutni; Imam al-Dhahabi called it a "khabar saqit" (an unreliable report) in "al-Mizan".
وأخرجه الطبراني في "الكبير" (6068)، وفي "مكارم الأخلاق" (151) عن علي بن عبد العزيز، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani recorded it in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" (6068) and "Makarim al-Akhlaq" (151) through the chain of 'Ali bin 'Abd al-'Aziz.
وأخرجه الطبراني في "الكبير" (6068)، وفي "الأوسط" (1576)، وفي "الصغير" (761)، وفي "مكارم الأخلاق" (151)، وأبو الشيخ في "أخلاق النبي" (781)، وأبو نعيم في "معرفة الصحابة" (3350)، والخلعي في "الفوائد المنتقاة الحسان" (941) من طرق عن معلَّى بن مهدي، به. ووقع في "المعجم الصغير" وحده: أنَّ عمر دخل على سلمان، وهو خطأ. وقال الطبراني: لا يُروى هذا الحديث عن سلمان إلَّا بهذا الإسناد، تفرَّد به عمران بن خالد.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani recorded it in "al-Kabir", "al-Awsat" and "al-Saghir", as did other imams, through various routes from Mu'alla bin Mahdi.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In "al-Mu'jam al-Saghir" alone the error occurred that 'Umar entered upon Salman (whereas it is the account of placing a cushion for Salman). According to Imam al-Tabarani, 'Imran bin Khalid is alone in narrating this report from Salman.

وأخرج الطبراني في "الكبير" (6188) من طريق سويد بن عبد العزيز، عن أبي عبد الله يزيد بن عَبْد الله بن أَبِي يزيد النجراني، عن القاسم أبي عبد الرحمن قال: قال سلمان الفارسي: سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: "إذا زار أحدكم أخاه فألقى له شيئًا يقيه من التراب، وقاه الله عذاب النار". وسويد ضعيف، والقاسم -وهو ابن عبد الرحمن الدمشقي- لم يدرك سلمان فيما قاله أبو حاتم الرازي.
