حدثنا أبو العبّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا الرَّبيع بن سليمان، حدثنا أَسد بن موسى، حدثنا حمّاد بن سَلَمة، عن هشام بن عُرْوة، عن أبيه، عن عبد الله بن عبد الله بن أُبيٍّ ابنِ سَلُولَ قال: قلت: يا رسولَ الله، أَقتُلُ أَبي؟ قال: "لا تَقتُلْ أباكَ" (3).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Shall I kill my father?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not kill your father."

(3) حسن لغيره، وهذا إسناد رجاله ثقات إلّا أنه منقطع، فإنَّ عروة بن الزبير لم يدرك عبدَ الله ابن عبد الله. وأخرجه ابن شبّة في "تاريخ المدينة" 1/ 365، وابن أبي عاصم في "الآحاد والمثاني" (1967)، وأبو نعيم في "معرفة الصحابة" (4235) من طريق عارم -وتحرّف في مطبوع ابن شبّة إلى: حارثة- وهو محمد بن الفضل، عن حماد بن سلمة، بهذا الإسناد.
Grading: This narration is "hasan li-ghayrihi" (sound due to supporting evidence); although this chain is broken (munqati') because 'Urwah bin al-Zubayr did not meet 'Abd Allah bin 'Abd Allah, its narrators are thiqah (trustworthy).
Reference / Source: Ibn Shabbah narrated it in "Tarikh al-Madinah", and Ibn Abi 'Asim and Abu Nu'aym with the chain of 'Arim (Muhammad bin al-Fadl) from Hammad bin Salamah. In the printed edition of Ibn Shabbah, 'Arim has been printed by mistake as "Harithah".

ويشهد له حديث أبي هريرة عند أبي نعيم (4236)، وزاد نسبته الحافظ ابن حجر في "فتح الباري" 13/ 358 إلى ابن منده، وحسَّن إسناده.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Its supporting report (shahid) is the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) found with Abu Nu'aym (4236), and al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar in "Fath al-Bari" 13/ 358 attributed it to Ibn Mandah and declared its chain "hasan".
ويشهد له أيضًا مرسل عكرمة مولى ابن عبّاس عند عبد الرزاق في "مصنفه" (6627)، والطبري في "تفسيره" 28/ 113. وإسناده إلى عكرمة ضعيف.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Another supporting report is the mursal narration of 'Ikrimah (the client of Ibn 'Abbas), found in Musannaf 'Abd al-Razzaq (6627) and Tafsir al-Tabari 28/ 113, but its chain up to 'Ikrimah is weak.
Grading: This narration is "hasan li-ghayrihi" (sound due to supporting evidence); although this chain is broken (munqati') because 'Urwah bin al-Zubayr did not meet 'Abd Allah bin 'Abd Allah, its narrators are thiqah (trustworthy).
