It is narrated from a freed slave of Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I asked Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): "Were you present at the Battle of Badr?" He replied: "May your mother weep for you! How could I have been absent from Badr?!" Al-Ansari says: Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) towards Badr when he was a young boy, and he used to serve the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Abu Hatim says: We asked al-Ansari how old Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) was when he died, and he told us that he was one hundred and seven years old.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: There is no harm in its narrators (la ba'sa bihim), except the mawla (freed slave) of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), for he is unnamed (mubham) and we could not identify him. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Muhammad bin 'Abd Allah al-Ansari is "Muhammad bin 'Abd Allah bin al-Muthanna bin 'Abd Allah bin Anas bin Malik". Technical note / Defect ('illah): 'Abd Allah al-Ansari here is "Muhammad bin 'Abd Allah bin al-Muthanna bin 'Abd Allah bin Anas bin Malik". Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ibn Sa'd in "al-Tabaqat" (5/ 327) — and via him by Ibn 'Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" (9/ 361) — from Muhammad bin 'Abd Allah al-Ansari, likewise. Reference / Source: It was narrated by Abu al-Qasim al-Baghawi in "Mu'jam al-Sahabah" (29) — and via him by Ibn 'Asakir as well — from 'Umar bin Shabbah, from Muhammad bin 'Abd Allah al-Ansari, from his father, from Thumamah bin Anas, who said: "It was said to Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) …", and he mentioned it. Technical note / Defect ('illah): This narration of 'Umar bin Shabbah is "shadh" (anomalous), because he contradicted Ibn Sa'd and Abu Hatim al-Razi in naming the narrator from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him). Important point: Al-Dhahabi in "Siyar A'lam al-Nubala'" (3/ 397) and al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar in "al-Isabah" mentioned that the experts on the maghazi did not count Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) among the Companions who fought at Badr, because he was present there as a young boy and did not fight; rather, he stayed with the baggage of the army.
