فأخبرَناه أبو عبد الله محمد بن عبد الله الزاهد، حدثنا إسماعيل بن إسحاق القاضي، حدثنا محمد بن أبي بَكْر، حدثنا خالد بن الحارث، حدثنا سعيد، عن أبي إسحاق، عن سعيد بن جُبَير، عن ابن عبّاس قال: تُوفِّي رسول الله ﷺ وأنا ابن خمسَ عشرةَ وقد خُتِنتُ (2). قال القاضي ﵀: اختَلَف أبو إسحاق وأبو [بِشْر] (1) على سعيد بن جُبير في سنِّ ابن عبّاس، وروايةُ أبي إسحاق أقربُ إلى الصواب.
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين ولم يُخرجاه، وهو أَوْلى من سائر الاختلاف في سنِّه.

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) states: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, I was fifteen years old and I had already been circumcised.
Al-Qadi Isma'il bin Ishaq (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Abu Ishaq and Abu Bishr differed in their narrations from Sa'id bin Jubayr regarding the age of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), but the narration of Abu Ishaq is closer to the truth. Imam al-Hakim said: This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it, and this narration is more reliable than the other differing reports about his age.
Al-Qadi Isma'il bin Ishaq (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Abu Ishaq and Abu Bishr differed in their narrations from Sa'id bin Jubayr regarding the age of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), but the narration of Abu Ishaq is closer to the truth. Imam al-Hakim said: This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it, and this narration is more reliable than the other differing reports about his age.

وأخرجه ابن أبي عاصم في "الآحاد والمثاني" (373) عن محمد بن أبي بكر المقدَّمي، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi 'Asim narrated it in his book "al-Ahad wa-l-Mathani" (373) via the route of Muhammad bin Abi Bakr al-Muqaddami with this same chain.
لكن وقع في مطبوعه: شعبة، مكان سعيد!
Note / Clarification: However, an error occurred in its (Ibn Abi 'Asim's) printed edition, where "Shu'bah" is written in place of the name "Sa'id".
تنبيه: قد ذَهَل المصنف ﵀ عن إخراج رواية إدريس بن يزيد التي أشار إليها سابقًا، وهي مخرَّجة عند البخاري برقم (6300) تعليقًا عن عبد الله بن إدريس، عن أبيه إدريس الأودي، عن أبي إسحاق، عن سعيد بن جبير، عن ابن عباس قال: قُبض النبي ﷺ وأنا ختين. وقد وصله ابن أبي عاصم (374) والطبراني (10579) من طريقين عن عبد الله بن إدريس.
Important point: (Caution) The author (al-Hakim) (may Allah have mercy on him) overlooked including the narration of Idris bin Yazid to which he had pointed earlier.
Reference / Source: This narration is found with Imam al-Bukhari under number (6300) as "mu'allaq" via the route of Abd Allah bin Idris from his father Idris al-Awdi from Abu Ishaq from Sa'id bin Jubayr from Ibn 'Abbas, with the words: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away when I had already been circumcised". Ibn Abi 'Asim (374) and Imam al-Tabarani (10579) narrated it "mawsulan" (with a complete chain) through two different routes from Abd Allah bin Idris.
وقد بيَّن إسرائيل في روايته عن جدِّه أبي إسحاق السبيعي عند البخاري (6299) أنهم كانوا لا يختنون الرجل حتى يُدرِك. أي: حتى يبلغ الحُلُم.
Note / Clarification: Isra'il bin Yunus, in his narration from his grandfather Abu Ishaq al-Sabi'i (which is in Sahih al-Bukhari, number 6299), made clear that they did not circumcise a man until he "yudrik", that is, until he reached the age of puberty.
(1) سقط لفظ "بشر" من نسخنا الخطية، ولا بدَّ منه.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The word "Bishr" has dropped out of the manuscripts available to us, although it is necessary for the chain to be correct.
وأبو بشر هذا: هو جعفر بن أبي وحشية، وروايته عن سعيد بن جبير عند أحمد 4/ (2283) و 4 / (2601) و 5 / (3357)، والبخاري (5035)، وفيها أنَّ ابن عبّاس قال: وأنا ابن عشر سنين.
Important point: Here "Abu Bishr" refers to Ja'far bin Abi Wahshiyyah; his narration from Sa'id bin Jubayr is in Musnad Ahmad 4/ (2283), 4/ (2601), 5/ (3357) and Sahih al-Bukhari (5035), with the words that Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "At that time I was ten years old".
ورواية أبي بشر هذه تكلَّم فيها غير واحدٍ من أهل العلم وردُّوها كما هو مبيَّن في تعليقنا على "مسند أحمد" (2283).
