Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This hadith is "sahih li-ghayrihi", but this particular chain is "da'if" on account of Abd al-Rahman bin Amin (who is also called Yamin).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Several hadith scholars declared him da'if, as mentioned in his biography in "Lisan al-Mizan" 5/ 145.
Note / Clarification: The full name of Abu Yahya al-Himmani is "Abd al-Hamid bin Abd al-Rahman".
Reference / Source: Ibn Qani' narrated it in "Mu'jam al-Sahabah" 1/ 172, Imam al-Tabarani (3296), Abu Bakr al-Qati'i in his additions to Fada'il al-Sahabah (500) and Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (2028), through various routes from Abu Yahya al-Himmani with this same chain.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It has a shahid with the same wording from the hadith of Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), which is in Musnad Ahmad 44/(26476, 26705), al-Nasa'i (777, 4273) and Ibn Hibban (3749), and its chain is "sahih".
Note / Clarification: Regarding "rawatib fi al-jannah", 'Allamah al-Sindi said in his gloss on "Sunan al-Nasa'i": it is the plural of 'ratibah', derived from 'rataba' (i.e. when something stands upright); the meaning is that the ground on which it stands is part of Paradise, as though its legs (his feet, or the animal's legs) are settled in Paradise.
Important point: We say that this meaning is indicated by the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "What is between my house and my pulpit is one of the gardens of Paradise", which is narrated in the two Sahihs (al-Bukhari and Muslim) and elsewhere.
