Abdullah bin Abi Bakr bin Muhammad bin Amr bin Hazm states: We were sitting with him when mention was made of the first child born among the Ansar after the arrival of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in Madinah. He said that it was al-Nu'man bin Bashir, who was born a year and a few days, or a little less than a year, after the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah. Then the people mentioned Abdullah bin Abi Talhah, and he said that Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) was pregnant with him on the day of the Battle of Hunayn, and he was born after the return to Madinah.

5/ 364. Technical note / Defect ('illah): It is possible that the one who narrated this report from Abd al-Rahman bin Abd al-'Aziz is "Mus'ab al-Zubayri", while Muhammad bin 'Umar al-Waqidi also narrated it from him, as found in "Tabaqat Ibn Sa'd" 5/ 364. Note / Clarification: Abd al-Rahman bin Abd al-'Aziz here refers to "Abd al-Rahman bin Abd al-'Aziz bin Abd Allah bin 'Uthman bin Hunayf al-Ansari".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Manuscripts (Z) and (B) have the words "li-sanah aw aqam", while manuscripts (M) and (S) read "li-sanah aw ayyam", but all of these are errors. Important point: The words we have established in the text are the correct ones.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In our manuscripts it is distorted here into "law", whereas it has been corrected from "al-Tabaqat" (of Ibn Sa'd); likewise, the text between the square brackets (mu'qufayn) was also taken from there.
