Mus'ab bin Abdullah al-Zubayri states that the lineage of Sayyiduna al-Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) goes back to Ka'b bin al-Khazraj. His mother was Amrah bint Rawahah, the sister of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him). Al-Nu'man had a son named Abdullah, after whom his kunyah was Abu Abdullah, and another of his sons was named Muhammad.

Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts this word is distorted and left as "r-y-y-y" (without dots); it has been corrected from the sources of the narrator's biography (tarjamah).
364. Technical note / Defect ('illah): The manuscripts have only "Muhammadan" without the 'wa' (and), which is not correct; the 'wa' must be present here for the wording to be correct. Muhammad is his son, a well-known narrator who narrates from his father, and al-Nu'man had other sons besides these two.
