Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6351

حدثنا علي بن عيسى، حدثنا الحسين بن محمد بن زياد، حدثنا محمود ابن خِدَاش، حدثنا عَبيدةُ (2) بن حُمَيد، حدثني إسماعيل بن أبي خالد، عن حفص ابن جابر (3) قال: لما مات الأشعثُ بنُ قيس قال الحسنُ بن علي: إذا غسَّلتُموه فلا تَهِيجُوه حتى تأتوني به، قال: به قال فأُتِيَ به، فدعا بحَنُوطٍ فوضَّأ به يدَيهِ ووجهه ورجلَيهِ، ثم قال: أَدرِجُوا (4). ذكرُ المِسوَر بن مَخرَمة الزُّهْري ﵁-
Hafs bin Jabir states that when Sayyiduna al-Ash'ath bin Qays (may Allah be pleased with him) died, Sayyiduna al-Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "When you have washed him, do not move him until you bring him to me." The narrator says: So he was brought to him, and he called for hanut (embalming perfume) and with it performed ablution on his hands, face and feet, and then said: "Now wrap him in the shroud."

(2) في النسخ الخطية: عبدة، وهو خطأ، والتصويب من "إتحاف المهرة" (4298).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The manuscripts have 'Abdah', which is an error; the correct name is according to "Ithaf al-Maharah" (4298).

(3) هكذا وقع في النسخ الخطية و "إتحاف المهرة"، وهو خطأ، والصواب: حكيم بن جابر، كما في مصادر التخريج.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This spelling in the manuscripts and in 'Ithaf al-Maharah' is an error; the correct name is 'Hakim bin Jabir', as mentioned in the other sources of takhrij.

(4) إسناده صحيح.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
وأخرجه عبد الرزاق (6149)، وابن أبي شيبة 3/ 243 و 255، وأبو القاسم البغوي في "الجعديات" (2404)، وأبو نعيم في "معرفة الصحابة" (938)، وابن عساكر في "تاريخ دمشق" 9/ 143 من طرق عن إسماعيل بن أبي خالد، عن حكيم بن جابر.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Abd al-Razzaq (6149), Ibn Abi Shaybah, Abu al-Qasim al-Baghawi in "al-Ja'diyyat" (2404), Abu Nu'aym and Ibn 'Asakir through various routes from Isma'il bin Abi Khalid, from Hakim bin Jabir.
