أخبرني أبو إسحاق إبراهيم بن محمد بن يحيى، حَدَّثَنَا محمد بن سليمان بن فارس، حَدَّثَنَا محمد بن إسماعيل (1)، حَدَّثَنَا الحسن بن واقعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ضَمْرة بن رَبِيعة قال: مات أبو هريرة سنة ثمانٍ وخمسين، ويقال: مات سنةَ تسعٍ وخمسين وهو ابن ثمانٍ وسبعين سنة.
It is narrated from Damrah bin Rabi'ah that Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away in the year 58 AH, and there is also a view of 59 AH; at that time he was 78 years old.

(1) هو البخاري، وهذا في كتابيه "التاريخ الكبير" 6/ 132 و "التاريخ الأوسط" 1/ 652 دون قوله: ويقال: مات سنة تسع وخمسين … إلخ، ونقل في "الكبير" عن ابن إسحاق قال: مات سنة تسع وخمسين.
Reference / Source: This refers to Imam al-Bukhari; it is in his books "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" (6/ 132) and "al-Tarikh al-Awsat" (1/ 652), but without the words "It is said he died in the year 59 …" etc.
Important point: In "al-Kabir" he quoted Ibn Ishaq as saying that Abu Hurayrah died in 59 AH.
