Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6276

It is narrated from Ibn Aishah that the name of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) was "Sukayn". (Imam al-Hakim says that) this disagreement about the name of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) has reached nine (9) different views. In my view, the most correct of them is that in the Days of Ignorance his name was "Abd Shams" and in Islam "Abd al-Rahman". Likewise, there is disagreement about his age.
