Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6256

Mention of the virtues of Sayyiduna Abu al-Yasar Ka'b bin Amr al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him). It is narrated from Ishaq bin Ibrahim al-Hanzali that the name of Abu al-Yasar al-Ansari is Ka'b bin Amr bin Abbad bin Amr bin Tamim bin Sawad bin Ghanm bin Ka'b bin Salimah. He is one of the people of Badr, he took part in the Pledge of al-Aqabah, and he is the one who took Sayyiduna al-Abbas bin Abd al-Muttalib captive.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts the name is written "Tamim bin Shaddad bin Uthman bin Ka'b bin Sulaym", which is a distortion; the correct forms are "Sawad" (instead of Shaddad), "Ghanm" (instead of Uthman) and "Salimah" (instead of Sulaym).
Important point: The correct name and lineage of Abu al-Yasar have already passed with the author at numbers (6194-6197).
