Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6239

One of the sons of Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) composed these verses (in praise of his father): "I am the son of the one whose supplications are answered, and who filled the (defensive) breach for the chosen Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) of the Arabs; he guarded the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) seeking reward, and this honour was granted especially to him and not to anyone else. Then, when the people differed among themselves (at the time of turmoil), he refused to fight the people of Tawhid and of the Scriptures (the Muslims). Allah kept him safe, so that at that time he did not strike anyone with an arrow, nor was he struck by one."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Most likely this "Sa'id" is Abu Salih al-Ghifari al-Misri, since Bakr bin Mudar is also Egyptian; on that basis there is a strong possibility of inqita' (a break in the chain) between the two. And Allah knows best.
