Aishah bint Sa'd narrates from her father that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat in the mosque for three nights, saying: 'Allahumma adkhil min hadha al-babi 'abdan yuhibbuka wa tuhibbuhu' (O Allah, let a servant enter through this door who loves You and whom You love). Then Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) entered through it.
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Technical note / Defect ('illah): Our manuscripts have "Abdah bin", which is wrong; the correct form is what we have established (i.e. Ubaydah bint Nabil), and she has a biography in "al-Tahdhib" and its derivative works.
Grading: This chain is hasan because of Ubaydah bint Nabil; a group of narrators narrated from her, and Ibn Hibban mentioned her in "al-Thiqat". Reference / Source: Ibn Asakir (20/ 327) narrated it via Sulayman bin Shu'ayb al-Kaysani, from al-Khasib bin Nasih. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Bazzar (1210) narrated it via Ma'n bin Isa, but it contains no mention of "three nights"; it only says that food had been placed before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). This version is more correct, since Ma'n is a greater hafiz than al-Khasib. Details of the narration: A similar story was narrated by Asim bin Bahdalah concerning Abd Allah bin Salam, which has already passed with the author at number (5868). Asim is saduq, hasan in hadith. (2483). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The meaning of Asim's narration is supported by the narration of Abu al-Nadr in which Sa'd said: "I never heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say of anyone walking on the earth that he is of the people of Paradise, except Abd Allah bin Salam" (al-Bukhari: 3812, Muslim: 2483). Reference / Source: On this topic there is also a marfu' narration of Abd Allah bin Amr bin al-As with Ahmad (11/ 7069): "The first to enter through this door is of the people of Paradise", and Sa'd entered. Grading: Its chain is weak.
