It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Who am I? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You are Sa'd bin Malik bin Uhayb bin Abd Manaf bin Zuhrah. Whoever says otherwise, upon him be the curse of Allah."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is da'if (weak). Technical note / Defect ('illah): The reason for its weakness is the weakness of 'Ali bin Zayd bin Jud'an. Reference / Source: Ibn Sa'd (3/ 128), al-Dawraqi in "Musnad Sa'd" (103), Ibn Abi 'Asim (210), al-Bazzar (1073), al-Dulabi (78), al-Tabarani (289), Abu Nu'aym (502), al-Bayhaqi (6/ 368), al-Hakim (p. 169), al-Khatib (1/ 477) and Ibn 'Asakir narrated it through several routes from Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah with this same chain. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ibrahim bin 'Awn contradicted all the other students of Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah and mentioned the name 'al-Zuhri' in place of 'Ali bin Zayd; this narration is 'shadh' (that is, not accepted because it contradicts trustworthy narrators). Reference / Source: This is in Abu al-Shaykh's "Tabaqat al-Muhaddithin bi-Asbahan" (242). Grading: This chain is rejected. Technical note / Defect ('illah): 'Uthman bin 'Abd al-Rahman al-Zuhri al-Sa'di is a 'matruk (abandoned)' narrator, and Imam Ibn Ma'in accused him of lying. Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani (291) narrated it with this chain.
