Mustadrak al-Hakim 6147 — The virtues of Thawban, the freed slave
سمعت أبا العبّاس محمد بن يعقوب يقول: سمعتُ العبّاس بن محمدٍ الدُّورِي، سمعت يحيى بن مَعِين يقول: ثَوْبان مولى رسول الله ﷺ، هو أبو عبد الله.
It is narrated from Yahya bin Ma'in that the kunyah of Thawban, the mawla (freed slave) of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), was Abu Abdullah.
