حدثنا علي بن حَمْشَاذَ العَدل، حدثنا محمد بن غالب، حدثنا يحيى بن سليمان الجُعْفي، حدثنا وكيع، عن إسماعيل بن أبي خالد، عن قيس بن أبي حازم، قال: رأيتُ مروانُ بن الحَكَم حين رَمَى طلحةَ بنَ عُبيد الله يومئذٍ، فوَقَع في رُكبَتِه فما زالَ يَسِيحُ إلى أن مات (2).

Qays bin Abi Hazim relates: I saw Marwan bin al-Hakam when he shot an arrow at Sayyiduna Talhah bin Ubaydullah (may Allah be pleased with him); it struck his knee, and blood kept flowing from it until he passed away.

(2) إسناده حسنٌ من أجل يحيى بن سليمان الجعفي، وقد توبع، فالخبر صحيح.
Grading: (2) Its chain is hasan on account of Yahya bin Sulayman al-Ju'fi, and he has been corroborated (mutaba'ah), so the report is sahih.
وأخرجه الطبراني في "الكبير" (201)، ومن طريقه ابن عساكر في "تاريخ دمشق" 25/ 112 عن أحمد بن يحيى بن خالد بن حَيّان، عن يحيى بن سليمان الجُعفي، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani narrated it in "al-Kabir" (201), and via his route Ibn 'Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" 25/ 112, from Ahmad bin Yahya bin Khalid bin Hayyan, he from Yahya bin Sulayman al-Ju'fi, with this same chain.
وأخرجه ابن أبي شيبة 11/ 101 و 15/ 275، وعنه البَلاذُري 3/ 43 و 10/ 126، وأخرجه أبو بكر الخلال في "السنة" (839)، وابن عساكر 25/ 112 من طرق عن وكيع، به.

وأخرجه ابن سعد 3/ 204، وابن أبي شيبة 3/ 389 و 15/ 289، والبلاذري 3/ 43 - 44 و 10/ 128، وابن عساكر 25/ 124 من طريق أبي أسامة حماد بن أسامة، وابن عبد البر في "الاستيعاب" ص 361 من طريق علي بن مُسهِر، كلاهما عن إسماعيل بن أبي خالد، به.
