Explanation & Benefits

Grading: This hadith is sahih like the one before it, though this particular chain is weak because of 'Ali bin Zayd bin Jud'an; however, it is strengthened by the corroborations mentioned earlier. Technical note / Defect ('illah): The narrator al-Humaydi in the chain is Abd Allah bin al-Zubayr bin 'Isa al-Asadi, and Sufyan is Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah. Reference / Source: As detailed in the previous discussion. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it in his Musnad at 19/ (12095) and (12101) via Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah, and also at 21/ (13745) via Husayn bin Muhammad al-Marrudhi from Sufyan with this same chain. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it at 21/ (13604) via Hammad bin Salamah from 'Ali bin Zayd, who said: I think this narration is from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him).
