حَدَّثَنَا أحمد بن سَلْمان الفقيه ببغداد، قال: قُرئ على عبد الملك بن محمد - وأنا أسمع - حَدَّثَنَا سعيد بن واصِل، حَدَّثَنَا شُعبة، عن يحيى بن صَبِيح، عن محمد بن سِيرين، عن أنس، أن النَّبِيّ ﷺ قال: "هذا خَالي، فمن شاءَ مِنكُم فليُخرِجْ خالَه" يعني: أبا طلحة زوجَ أم سُليم. قال: في الكَرَم قال هذا (1).

Muhammad bin Sirin narrates from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is my maternal uncle, so whoever of you wishes, let him bring forward his maternal uncle." By this he (peace and blessings be upon him) meant Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him), the husband of Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her). The narrator said that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said this to show his honour and nobility.

(1) إسناده ضعيف لضعف سعيد بن واصل، وشيخ شعبة في هذا الحديث هو عبد الله بن صُبيح - وهو البصري - وليس يحيى بن صَبِيح - وهو الخُراساني - كما وقع مسمًّى عند المصنّف هنا وفي الطريق التالية، وقد سُمّي على الصواب في "معرفة علم الحديث" للمصنف ص 218 بعد أن أخرجه من طريق يحيى بن محمد بن يحيى الذُّهلي، عن أبيه، عن سعيد بن واصل.
Grading: Its chain is "weak" because of Sa'id bin Wasil.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Shu'bah's shaykh here is "Abd Allah bin Subayh" (of Basra), not "Yahya bin Sabih" (of Khurasan) as the author (al-Hakim) mistakenly has it here. The author narrated it with the correct name in his other book "Ma'rifat 'Ilm al-Hadith" (p. 218) through the chain of Yahya bin Muhammad al-Dhuhli.
وسيأتي بعده من طريق صالح بن محمد المعروف بصالح جَزَرة، عن محمد بن يحيى الذُّهلي، عن سعيد بن واصل.

وقد روي مثلُ مقالة النَّبِيّ ﷺ هذه لكن لسعد بن أبي وقاص، كما سيأتي عند المصنّف برقم (6233).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A similar statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is also narrated concerning Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) (no. 6233).
قال الحافظ ابن حجر في "التلخيص الحبير" 3/ 94: خؤولة سعد للنبي ﷺ من جهة أمّه آمنة، لأنّها من فخذه بني زُهْرة، وخؤولة أبي طلحة من جهة أم والده عبد الله بن عبد المطلب لأنّها من فخذه بني النَّجّار.
Note / Clarification: Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar says in "al-Talkhis al-Habir" (3/ 94): Sa'd's maternal-uncle relation (khu'ulah) to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is through Aminah, since she was from Banu Zuhrah, while Abu Talhah's relation is through the mother of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) father, Abd Allah, since she was from Banu al-Najjar.
