Umayr bin Ishaq narrates from Sayyiduna al-Miqdad bin al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me on a mission (as a commander). When I returned, he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: "How did you find yourself?" I said: "(Through the intoxication of command) my state became such that I began to consider my companions as my slaves and servants. By Allah! After this I will never become a commander even over two men."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
An account of the virtues of Sayyiduna Abu Abs bin Jabr al-Ansari al-Khazraji (may Allah be pleased with him).
